Update: There is confirmation from various sources now that US forces have struck at least three tankers, following reports of three others hit on Sept 5. Reports say US forces had ordered crews aboard Iranian tankers to evacuate ahead of additional attacks and Iran could respond by striking US bases.Other reports say there may have been land-based targets as well.
Update: Prior to the attacks, the IRGC spokesman said that in the event of any aggression against Iranian vessels, Iran's Armed Forces will heavily target US bases and interests across the region.Update: The WSJ reports that Iran launched a second wave of attacks on the US navy on Monday that CENTCOM hasn't yet acknowledged. Today's strikes may be in response to that.
